Carta de despedida de la deportista internacional Abril Conesa de la natación artística

CARTA DE DESPEDIDA DE ABRIL CONESA:

"Hola a todos, soy Abril Conesa, miembro del Equipo Nacional de Natación Artística.

Me dirijo a todos vosotros para comunicaros una de las decisiones más importantes y difíciles de mi carrera deportiva y de mi vida hasta fecha de hoy.

Me inicie en el mundo de la Natación Artística, en ese momento sincronizada, cuando tenía 8 años. Nunca imaginé que una simple extraescolar pasaría a llenar y a formar parte de toda mi vida hasta los 23 años que tengo hoy. Así ha sido, durante estos 15 años todos mis sueños, objetivos, ambiciones e ilusiones han sido enfocados a este deporte.

Esta es mi sexta temporada formando parte del equipo Nacional, siempre he trabajado y luchado para aportar mi mejor versión junto a mis compañeras de Equipo. Hemos ganado medallas europeas, mundiales y conseguido un Diploma Olímpico en Tokio 2020, unos Juegos Olímpicos muy especiales y únicos que vivimos intensamente.

Así pues, después de muchos años de dedicación, sacrificio y trabajo duro para este deporte, junto a muchas experiencias inolvidables, experimentar la adrenalina y la emoción de la competición, y de conocer a personas maravillosas que me han apoyado en todo momento, he tomado la difícil decisión de retirarme.

Creo que ha llegado el momento de poner punto final en esta etapa de mi vida, me siento muy orgullosa de todo lo que he logrado hasta ahora, pero también sé, que en esta vida hay que ser sincero con uno mismo y es hora de coger otro camino para dar paso a que otras generaciones brillen en este bonito deporte.

Quiero agradecer a todos aquellos que han formado parte de mi carrera deportiva, empezando por mis compañeras y entrenadores, con quien he compartido mi día a día. Me satisface decir que he formado parte de este equipo, un equipo fuerte, unido y que en estos últimos años hemos crecido muchísimo como deportistas, pero también como personas. Nos hemos sobrepuesto a cualquier adversidad y reto que se nos ha puesto por delante, siempre con las mismas ganas e ilusión. Por eso, se con certeza que este equipo de mujeres, y ahora también de hombres, les queda mucha guerra que dar y sorprender.

También agradecer a la Real Federación Española de Natación y a la Federación Catalana de Natación, dos entidades formadas por un equipo humano y profesional maravilloso que siempre me han brindado todo su apoyo y ayuda en mi carrera deportiva. Así como a la Secretaría General de l’Esport, al Consejo Superior de Deporte y al Comité Olímpico Español, por acompañarme durante todos estos años y ayudarme a rendir al máximo en este intenso camino.

Por otra parte, dar las gracias al Club Natación Granollers, club donde me inicie en el mundo de la Natación Artística y que me ha acompañado todos estos años. Allí aprendí los valores del deporte, del compañerismo y desarrollé la pasión por este deporte. También estoy muy agradecida el Club Natación Sabadell, que me dio la mano, y me han mostrado todo su apoyo y ayuda durante todo este último año.

No me quiero olvidar de la que fue mi casa, el Centro de Tecnificación Joaquim Blume, donde di mis primeros pasos como deportista de élite con 13 años, y a mi familia de estos últimos años del Centro de Alto Rendimiento de Sant Cugat del Vallès, donde he finalizado mi carrera deportiva y convivido con muchísimos deportistas y profesionales que siempre me han mostrado todo su cariño y aprecio.

Por último, quiero hacer una mención especial, a mi familia y amigos, por todo su apoyo incondicional y hacer esto posible, incluso estando lejos siempre los he sentido cerca y empujándome a seguir luchando. Ellos han vivido todos los momentos buenos y malos, han sufrido, llorado y también saltado de alegría conmigo, son sin duda el pilar principal de toda esta historia. Sin su amor y cariño, no habría sido posible llegar hasta aquí.

No me retiro con tristeza, sino con la satisfacción de haber hecho todo lo posible por alcanzar mis metas, de haber dado lo mejor de mí en cada entrenamiento y competición, pero sobre todo me voy orgullosa de cómo me he formado como deportista y persona, de la ABRIL que soy y quiero llegar a ser en un futuro como profesional en el amplio ámbito de la nutrición. Me voy con la seguridad de que todo lo que he experimentado en el deporte me acompañará siempre, y me ayudará en los nuevos desafíos que vendrán. Tengo mucha ilusión y ambición en empezar afrontar nuevos retos, objetivos, y a formarme y ayudar a muchos otros deportistas como profesional.

Me despido con la certeza de que esto no es un adiós, sino un hasta pronto. El deporte siempre formará parte de mi vida y tengo claro que quiero seguir vinculada a él, tanto como deportista como profesional.

(LETTER FROM ABRIL CONESA IN ENGLISH)

"Hi everyone, my name is Abril Conesa, a member of the National Artistic Swimming Team.

I am writing to inform you of one of the most important and difficult decisions of my sports career and my life to date.

I started in the world of Artistic Swimming, then synchronized, when I was 8 years old. I never imagined that a simple extracurricular activity would become such a big part of my life until now, at 23 years old. For the past 15 years, all my dreams, goals, ambitions, and hopes have been focused on this sport.

This is my sixth season as part of the National team, and I have always worked and fought to give my best version alongside my teammates. We have won European and world medals and achieved an Olympic Diploma in Tokyo 2020, a very special and unique Olympic Games that we experienced intensely.

After many years of dedication, sacrifice, and hard work for this sport, along with many unforgettable experiences, feeling the adrenaline and emotion of competition, and meeting wonderful people who have always supported me, I have made the difficult decision to retire.

I believe that it is time to put an end to this stage of my life, and I am very proud of everything I have achieved so far. But I also know that in life, one must be honest with oneself, and it is time to take another path to make way for other generations to shine in this beautiful sport.

I want to thank everyone who has been part of my sports career, starting with my teammates and coaches, with whom I have shared my daily life. I am pleased to say that I have been part of this team, a strong and united team that has grown tremendously in recent years, both as athletes and as people. We have overcome any adversity and challenge that has been placed before us, always with the same desire and enthusiasm. Therefore, I am certain that this team of women, and now also men, still have a lot of fight to give and surprises.

I would also like to thank the Spanish Swimming Federation and the Catalan Swimming Federation, two entities made up of a wonderful human and professional team that have always supported and helped me in my sports career. As well as the General Secretary of Catalonia Sport, the Spanish Sport Ministry, and the Spanish Olympic Committee, for accompanying me during all these years and helping me to perform at my best on this intense journey.

On the other hand, I want to thank the Granollers Swimming Club, where I started in the world of Artistic Swimming and which has accompanied me all these years. There, I learned the values of sports, camaraderie, and developed my passion for this sport. I am also very grateful to the Sabadell Swimming Club, which gave me a hand and showed me all their support and help during this last year.

I do not want to forget my home, the Joaquim Blume High-Performance Center, where I took my first steps as an elite athlete at the age of 13, and my family from these last years the High-Performance Center in Sant Cugat del Vallès, where I finished my sports career and lived with many athletes and professionals who have always shown me all their love and appreciation.

Finally, I want to make a special mention of my family and friends, for all their unconditional support and for making this possible. Even when far away, I always felt their support and encouragement to keep fighting. They have experienced all the good and bad moments, have suffered, cried, and jumped for joy with me. They are undoubtedly the mainstay of this entire story. Without their love and affection, it would not have been possible to get this far.

I'm not retiring with sadness, but with the satisfaction of having done everything possible to reach my goals, of having given my best in every training and competition, but above all, I leave proud of how I have developed as an athlete and person, of the APRIL that I am and want to become in the future as a professional in the broad field of nutrition. I leave with the certainty that everything I have experienced in sports will always accompany me and will help me in the new challenges that will come. I am very excited and ambitious to start facing new challenges, goals, and to train and help many other athletes as a professional.

I say goodbye with the certainty that this is not a farewell, but a see you soon. Sports will always be a part of my life, and I am clear that I want to continue to be linked to it, both as an athlete and as a professional.
